Brief:
To design a system in order to promote and publicize an event, product or subject matter. The system will consist of related pieces that are unified by appearance and meaning (image, color, visual punctuation, etc.). A symbol can be used but should be thematically driven.
My wife is an HIV/AIDS Case Manager for a local non-profit organization. Each year, they organize a charity auction event to raise money for the emergency fund that covers a variety of needs, such as helping to pay rents or medical fees. After attending the 2009 fundraiser, I decided that I would design a system for future auctions. I wanted to keep colours to a minimum as a way of helping entice printers to donate their services to help offset the costs associated with producing the event. I also wanted to show some of the incredible energy that comes from the organizers and performers, but not loose the tangible respect that I felt when watching attendees interact with each other.
/ / these are digital files, not the printed pieces. elements of this project are being refined, and will be offered to the organizers at no cost for the 2010 auction.

Brief:
Part 1: Pick a company. The requirements are (1) the company is somehow “green” but the current identity does not adequately reflect this and (2) is either national or international in scope or could be expanded to this size.
Develop a logo for the company that improves their identity and increases the clarity of their eco-friendly services or products. The logo will be a combination of a symbol and a signature.
Part 2: Taking the logo and signature from part one, refining if necessary, create an identity system which applies these components in a variety of ways, proving the success of that system through the design of several applications. Develop a systems application manual that clearly shows correct uses of the symbol/signature, grids, proportional ratios, placement, orientation and scale of elements for the various applications, dominant/subordinate relationships, colour applications, and corporate typeface(s).
